May 2010

“Motion Captured, Motion Denied”, presents the works of young, Saskatchewan contemporary ceramic artists Jody Greenman-Barber and Zane Wilcox.  Although both artists work in very distinct and different approaches from each other, a commonality between their works is how each artist addresses the concept of motion.  Pushing the boundaries of wheel-thrown traditions, Jody’s work concentrates on gestural qualities of clay and exaggerated wheel-thrown lines & forms.  Zane’s work embodies a sense of immovability and stability, thus serving as an opposition to direct force or motion.  Sponsor: Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils
On view May 1 to 23.

“Emerging Artists:  Artists Unite To Celebrate their Weyburn Roots”

This exhibition showcases the works of  10 women representing all ages and 3 generations,  living in various locales across the country, but sharing one common thread: all are either formerly from Weyburn or had a strong personal connection with Weyburn during their youth.  Although some of the artists are professional and currently display their works in galleries in other provinces, this will be the first time any of these artists will have a showing of their work in Weyburn, where they formed their artistic roots.
Sponsors: Weyburn Credit Union and Weyburn Co-Op.
