History of Weyburn Arts Council
Weyburn Arts Council was the first arts council established in Saskatchewan in 1964 by a City bylaw, and  is governed by a 12-member volunteer board appointed by Weyburn City Council. Board meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, except July and August.

The Council is funded by grants, fees, and donations which are graciously accepted. As we are a non-profit charitable organization, we are able to issue charitable donation receipts. Legacies or bequeathments are accepted.

Weyburn Arts Council is an affiliate of the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils and a member of the Museum Association of Saskatchewan. We oversee the operation of the Allie Griffin Art Gallery which is located on the lower level of the Weyburn Public Library at 45 Bison Avenue.  As well, we manage the City of Weyburn permanent Art Collection.

Scholarships/Awards
Weyburn Arts Council offers a number of scholarships for the youth of the community. Eg. Annually, a music award is given to a piano student through the Weyburn Music Festival. We supply an award for St. Michael’s Junior High Drama Department as well as support first year secondary education students with a fine arts award.  We also review requests for funding various summer school educational opportunities. Eg Red Deer College.
